Client Project

Upward Bound is a federally funded program dedicated to promoting college access resources for first generation and low-income students in the Bay Area. As the Academic Advisor Assistant at USF and my background in design, I took the opportunity to pitch and lead the website design creation to make it accessible and visible for both students and parents that are interested in joining the program.

Friendly reminder: Due to the nature of the work and working with minors/gov, this work will not include visuals. This work is in progress and subject to change.

Context

The program is free: students can take advantage of college tours, Monthly workshops, Financial aid advising, & more…

There's a lot of perks that comes with joining a program that's amazing for students who don't have this opportunities such as an all paid for college tours (hotels, food, travel), informative workshops, financial aid, college application, summer program that would benefit a students learning and growth to prepare them to go into college.

Problem

Eligible Students Are Unaware of the Upward Bound Program due to a lack of online presence

When I first joined the Upward Bound Program, I realized there was not a live website until students came up to me one day as asked if they can sign up. Being aware of the program is currently limited, as most students learn about it through teachers, counselors, or mostly word of mouth from their older siblings in the program. Without a clear navigation point or online presence, many eligible students and their families may miss out on this opportunity to take advantage of.
